Chequer's push for the premier title
is dead and buried. A victory was vital to maintain a
challenge against Henrys and Sports. The Chequer however
recorded their third straight loss and are now also rans
in the league as well as being out of all the cups.
Chequer knew they had the
beating of Henrys after defeating them last month, and
dominated long spells of possession. However shorn of
their regular strikers, they were shot-shy and simply
didn't test Henry's keeper often enough.
Poor decisions by stand
in keeper Matt Laker cost us dearly, as he was at fault
for the first and third goals failing to collect or clear
when he was a clear favourite.
The team performed well
enough and played good football throughout, and when James
O'Neill brought us to 1 -1 after 20 minutes we dominated
play for the rest of the half but without taking a lead.
Instead Henry's, who were dangerous on the break first
hit a post, then took a 2 -1 advantage in at half time
- a well taken header from a right wing cross.
Chequer dominated
the possession for the first 30 of the second half, but
without getting the equaliser the effort and football
deserved, instead Henry's added a third when Matt lost
out in an aerial challenge. He redeemed himself later
with a fine save from Henry's Miles, but by then it was
too late.
